Our 9th Annual Dorothy Draper Decorating Weekend celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Dorothy Draper & Company, Inc.
In 1946, The Greenbrier needed an upgrade after serving its country as Ashford General Hospital during World War II. Famous New York decorator Dorothy Draper was brought to the mountains of West Virginia to restore The Greenbrier to its past glory. In doing so, Draper created a timeless, colorful look that has become a signature of America’s Resort. Under the watchful eye of Dorothy Draper, her protégé, Carleton Varney for over 60 years, and the Draper Team today, The Greenbrier has maintained that unparalleled look for over 75 years. During Dorothy Draper Decorating Weekend, The Greenbrier celebrates the colorful careers and lives of Draper and Varney, two icons of design. Join Dorothy Draper & Co. President Sebastian Varney and Design Director Rudy Saunders along with other team members to hear stories, learn tips, and behind-the-scenes tours of their signature approach to decorating.
